Had another great tour with my friend and inspiration Johnny Dowd!

Thanks to everyone involved in putting the tour together and also to the folks who came to the shows. In keeping with the “Family Picnic” (the name of Johnny’s latest record) theme of the tour, it was great to be so welcomed and appreciated. To experience the energy at the shows and the love the fans have for Johnny was truly uplifting. It was great, too, to sing with Mike Edmondson as “The Blue Belles,” Johnny’s back-up singers (from Los Angeles...wink). I look forward to the next tour already!

I got a call from my good friend Johnny Dowd who asked me to tour with him again, this time in the Netherlands and England. He also asked me to sing with him during his sets, so I am doing double duty (the hardest working man in show business!). It’s an honor to perform with him — he has taught me so much over the years.  He has taken to calling me and his guitar player Mike Edmondson “The Hummingbird Singers.” I’m looking forward to being in the Netherlands and England again. You can catch us all at the tour dates below.

In April of this year, I got a call from my good friend Robert Pollard, the founder, songwriter, singer, and band leader of the legendary band Guided by Voices. They would be playing in my hometown of Ithaca, NY, and I would open for them.

I had met Robert through the music scene in Dayton, Ohio, when I was in high school. Even though I was a high school punk at the time, and he had an established band, he always treated me like a like rock brother, and we have been friends ever since.

I was especially honored to play the show in Ithaca, because they normally don’t have opening bands, because their own show is 2 ½ hours long. (He has released over 100 albums so has a long repertoire.) But they made an exception for me.

Well, we had so much fun, and he got such a kick out of the material that I had honed in Berlin and while touring Europe with Johnny Dowd, that he took me on tour with them in the summer and fall. We played all over the eastern US, as well as in Toronto, Canada. The shows were fun, and I got great responses from the Guided by Voices fans.

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback and also thanks to Robert Pollard for allowing me to be a part of another great chapter in rock history!

Just finished mastering the tracks for my new 7-inch vinyl. Here they are for your listening pleasure. Mixed and mastered by Rob Kuhlman.

Had a great show at Lucey’s Lounge in Brooklyn and am definitely going back in the summer!

I also enjoyed talking rock with DJ Ignats on WRFI in Ithaca. Here is a tricked out version of “Lost in the Transfer” I did live on air.

Supporting Guided by Voices in Ithaca was fantastic — great response from the crowd and the band, super positive vibe at the show all around. Another chapter in the adventures with my rock brothers! Thanks to Kat Dalton for taking these awesome pics.

On to the next adventure!
